AIRS

Applied Information Retrieval Systems

AIRS was once a real company. It was founded in 1982 by Phil Lohnes, Steve Grillo, Richard Carlin, and Chris Mynahan. The company created the Infinity fourth generation language system on Alpha Micro computers, which were 68000 based computers running the proprietary operating system AMOS.

Alas, AIRS is no more, having gone out of business in 1992. The airs.com domain name lives on as the personal domain of one of the former AIRS employees, Ian Lance Taylor. The domain name is not for sale, please don't bother asking.

This is not the only company named AIRS. You may want one of these:

airs.com is powered by VA Linux Systems, Red Hat, Apache, djbdns, qmail, and WordPress, among others.
